Ken Grant, LCSW
Ken is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with Optimum Behavioral Health and Wellness with over 40 years of clinical experience in mental health. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University) and a Certificate in Social Work (CSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) both from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He is currently licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana.
Ken began his career serving in the Army. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1970, he accepted a position with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals in the Office of Mental Health and remained there until his retirement in 2001. During his tenure, he served in multiple roles including Clinical Social Worker, Social Work Supervisor, and Mental Health Clinic Manager. Following his retirement from the state, he continued his professional work in private practice and through private consulting. He joined Optimum Behavioral Health & Wellness in October 2025.
Ken’s clinical orientation is grounded in two core philosophical principles: self‑awareness and self‑responsibility. These principles are implemented through two primary modalities - didactic instruction and experiential exercises. Didactic instruction includes education on breathing mechanisms, nutrition, exercise, sleep regulation, other health and wellness factors, and differentiation of basic feelings and states of being. Experiential interventions include awareness training, deep breathing techniques, progressive relaxation, stress‑reduction exercises, decision and re‑decision exercises, and guided imagery.
Ken’s primary clinical methodologies include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), modified Transactional Analysis (TA), and modified Neuro‑Linguistic Programming (NLP). His primary treatment population consists of individual adults and adolescents aged 13 and older. Typical presenting concerns include, but are not limited to, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, and personality disorders. He also accepts referrals for couples experiencing marital or other relational difficulties.
